Asked to review the proposed demolition and rebuild of an existing steel framed building, we surveyed and modelled the building using our structural software. We were able to show that the existing frame could be reused with minor modifications to the frame and the layout of the interior. This reduced the cost of the works to a viable level for the client who then instructed the contractor to commence work. Our involvement continued with us completing the full design of the structure including the strengthening work to the existing frame, the new steelwork to support the second floor and roof, upgrading the foundations, and the masonry wall panels.
